Attorneys, Alameda County residents, law firms, legal departments and other organizations can support the Law Library AND receive benefits by becoming a member of the Alameda County Law Library. Non-attorneys must provide proof of Alameda County residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill with their name and Alameda County address. P.O. Boxes cannot be accepted as proof of an Alameda County address.
Memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Register for a Membership Level online
You’ll need a library card to register for membership. If you don’t have a card yet, register for a library card and on the form check the box for the desired membership level. Once the library has created your library card account, click on the corresponding “Donate” button below, call (510) 208-4832, or sign-up at the Reference Desk to complete your membership registration.
Alameda County Law Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. EIN 94-6000109. Your membership fee may be tax deductible. Please consult a tax professional.

NOTE: Except for “Firm/Organization,” all membership levels are for individual subscribers only, and benefits cannot be transferred to another person or entity. The “Firm/Organization” membership may be used to cover multiple employees in a law firm or other subscribing organization (e.g. for-profit, non-profit or government). Covered employees must be designated when the “Firm/Organization” membership is purchased.
1 For two additional circulation periods, provided it doesn’t have a hold placed on it.
2 Up to 6 items during the last hour the library is open. Items must be returned within the 1st hour of operation the next business day, or on Monday if checked out on a Friday afternoon. Late items will be subject to a $5 per item/per hour fine.
3 Requires exact citation. Standard turnaround during business hours is < 2 hours. Email delivery of electronic resources from library’s subscribed databases (LexisNexis/Shepards, Westlaw, OnLaw, HeinOnline, CCH AnswerConnect) or scans from print collection materials.
