Book Donations

Alameda County Law Library accepts donations of law books in good condition. Donations are accepted with the understanding that the library has the right to determine the disposition of gift items. Donated books may be added to our collection or sold in our Used Book sale. All proceeds from the sale of Used Books support the Law Library.

Alameda County Law Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible.

The library will acknowledge receipt of donated items with a letter of acknowledgment addressed to the donor. The letter will include an itemized list of donated materials and may be used to document tax deduction claims. The library is unable to ascribe a fair market value to book donations. Donors who wish to have an evaluation of their gifts for tax purposes are referred to the IRS Publication 561, Determining the Value of Donated Property, and Publication 526, Charitable Contributions.

We ask that you arrange for the delivery of materials to the Law Library during normal business hours.

If you would like to inquire about book donation, please email an inventory/list of titles to lawlib@acgov.org.
